Ali R. Photography, Image # 17, Synchromesh

Sometimes turning a familiar structure into a new interesting visual experience requires an angle that is beyond the traditional "looking" habit of most viewers.  They know that the structure looks familiar, but most viewers are confused at first.  I believe that this confusion is good, since it requires thinking to clarify it. Ali R. Photography, Image # 16, Untitled

A third image from the Stata Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts designed by Frank Gehry.  I had the feeling of a space traveller moving over the clouds of a mysterious geometrical city and into the familiar earth sky with clouds showering the spaceship from above.  It's good to have a dream like that! Another image from the Stata Center at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts designed by Frank Gehry.  It is exciting to create something surreal from the existing objects without any digital or optical manipulations. (www.alfaphotography.com)

Ali R. Photography, Image # 14, Storm & the Sea

I love Frank Gehry's work.  This image is from his Stata Center at MIT, Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The real and reflected are intertwined seamlessly,  so that there is no specific plain that eyes could anchor on.  The stormy sky is the reflection of what is behind the camera.

Ali R. Photography, # 13, Triad

Now that I have gotten your attention, let me explain what I do with photography and why.  The subjects of my photographs are objects and scenes in our contemporary urban environment: interiors of buildings, trap doors with personalities, patches of color on a wall surface, unfinished exteriors, or a rusted wall in need of fresh paint - unremarkable and overlooked until perfect lighting, proper lens, composition and the photographer’s mood together contribute to the creation of unique images.
Here the flag poles and their shadows are essential to the composition, and lining them up was not an easy task considering moving around in the middle of the street with cars blowing horn at me. (www.alfaphotography.com)
